We are lucky to live in Southeastern Connecticut. There are so many beautiful places to enjoy. In fact, sometimes I take it for granted. I had a great time photographing my hometown, Mystic, last month. I’ve decided I want to do more of that, and spend some time shooting some of my favorite local places. So, as soon as the sun came out again (sort of) I headed down to the Branford House in Groton.
I’ve always been a sucker for interesting architecture. Ever since I was a little kid. I think it’s because I could imagine myself living in these places. Especially a place like Branford House, where I could pretend to be an English princess. So I was very happy to spend the morning shooting there (although it would have been great if it was just a tad bit warmer and there were no 40 mile per hour wind gusts. Ah, well. Such is life on the shore.)
The Branford House is on the Avery Point campus of the University of Connecticut, and I went there for a couple of semesters. While the academic buildings are standard cinder block, the other buildings, all part of the original estate, are pretty incredible. It’s a beautiful spot with a really interesting history .
