So, it’s that crazy, busy, exciting time of year again. School has started. Lunches need to be made, homework needs to be checked, and buses need to be caught. But in the midst of the craziness there is also a strange calm. And I find myself with a lot more time to dedicate to my business.

This is a great thing. An exciting thing. And if I am brutally honest, a scary thing. Because I know that in order to take this business where we want it to go, I am going to have to work really hard, to put myself out there, to be uncomfortable sometimes.

And if I’m even more brutally honest with myself, I am afraid of failing. I don’t want to fail. I want people to like me.

And I’m afraid of succeeding. What if I can’t find the right balance? What if I end up neglecting my husband, my boys, my friends? What if my life changes a lot? I mean, I really love my life the way it is.

Ok, so here’s the spooky part. I had started writing this blog and was struggling with it, when on Sunday afternoon I went to our church group. And we discussed a book called “Fearless” by Max Lucado. It was like a tap on my shoulder, a whisper in my ear. “Are you listening? I’m talking to _you_.”

So, here I am, back at my blog. I had chosen these images I recently took  at the Mystic Seaport Museum for this post because they really struck me. They were demonstrating how to set a sail on the Joseph Conrad. It looks crazy. It looks scary. But if they didn’t set the sail, where would they go? They would never leave the port.

So, I’m listening to that whisper. I will not let fear cripple me. I will climb that scary rigging, and have faith that I will not fall. I will unfurl my sails and feel the wind in my face. I will take some chances and see where this crazy trip takes me.
